Manifesto

In the heart of Colombia, where mist-covered mountains meet endless horizons and rivers carry the echoes of tradition, Maloka Coffee is born. We are more than coffee—we are a bridge between worlds, where the roots of heritage meet the spirit of today.

Each
MAIU Coffee bag is a journey—one that begins in the hands of dedicated farmers, nurtured by fertile soil and centuries of craftsmanship. It carries the essence of Colombia’s vibrant landscapes, the rhythm of its people, and the warmth of its traditions. With every coffee bean, we invite you to experience not just a taste, but a story—intertwined with the land, the culture, and the hands that cultivate it.

The name MAIU was inspired by Maloka, the sacred gathering space where communities unite, we believe in the power of connection. Through our products, we honor the wisdom of those who came before us while sharing the energy of a new generation. We call on you to pause, to savor, and to embrace the richness of Colombia—not just in flavor, but in spirit.

Beyond coffee, we celebrate Colombia’s living heritage through indigenous Wayuu mochilas—handwoven bags that carry the stories of their makers—and handcrafted jewelry created by artisans across Colombia. Each piece reflects the same spirit that guides our coffee: authenticity, artistry, and a deep respect for the people and traditions that shape our identity.

We call on you to pause, to savor, and to embrace the richness of Colombia—not just in flavor, but in spirit. Let each coffee bag, mochila, and piece of jewelry be an invitation—to explore, to connect, and to celebrate the beauty of tradition reimagined.

This is more than a product; it’s a piece of Colombia, carried across oceans and into homes, where its story continues with you.

This is MAIU:
A journey through time and place, in every bag, every jewerly and every bean.
The taste of Colombian soul.

Meet Our FounderS

Leonardo Aguirre was born in Cali, Colombia, where he spent most of his childhood surrounded by the vibrant energy and warmth of Colombian culture. In his teenage years, he moved to the United States, living in Connecticut, California, and Florida for seven years. Eventually, his journey took him to Heilbronn, Germany, where he now calls home.

But no matter where life took him, Colombia was never far from his heart. Over time, Leonardo discovered his true passion: sharing the heart of Colombia with the people. What began as curiosity quickly grew into a deep appreciation- not just for the products he sells, but for the land, the people, and the rich culture. With MAIU he wants to create a bridge to his Colombian roots, feeling the calling to share it with other people.

With family ties in Quindío—the heart of Colombia’s coffee region—Leonardo set out to create something meaningful. To bring MAIU to life, he fully immersed himself in the world of specialty coffee. He traveled across Quindio, visiting farms, speaking with growers, and undergoing extensive training in coffee tasting, roasting, and barista skills. He explored countless varieties, searching for the one that truly captured the essence of Colombian coffee.

Ramona first connected with Colombia in 2016, during a volunteer service program that changed her life. From the very first day, the country felt like home—its joy for life, its warmth, its culture, and its breathtakingly diverse landscapes captured her heart.

Even after returning to Germany, that connection never faded. Colombia became a part of her, a place that continues to inspire her and where she always feels she truly belongs.

With Maiu, Ramona is fulfilling a lifelong dream: to bring the spirit, culture, and soul of Colombia to Germany. Through Maiu’s products, she hopes to share what she herself feels so deeply—the warmth, the community, and the vibrant joy of life that make Colombia so special.

Together, Leonardo and Ramona share more than just products—they share a feeling, a story, and the soul of Colombia.
